Late 2005 Rougier Gabon has doubled its certified area under sustainable forest management. Certifying body DNV has certified two management areas of approximately 573,000 ha, based on the ATO/ITTO standard for sustainable forest management. On top, the management system of Rougier received a ISO-14001 certificate. Between January and March 2006 the Keurhout Board of Experts has reviewed the documents, resulting in a positive validation. Herewith, the earlier admission of Rougier Gabon to the Keurhout-Sustainable System was consolidated. Also the related processing industry and chain-of-custody were validated positively. With this admission the possibilities for sales of certified sustainably produced Ocoume plywood and a range of sawn wood species (for among others window framing and mouldings) increase. Rougier can supply more than 30 species “bois divers” from its certified concessions.
