The possibility of certification in accordance with a local system and the review of certificates based on such local systems by an independent institution such as Keurhout has had a stimulating effect on the certification of sustainable forest management.
The recognition of companies who have demonstrated to comply with the legislation and regulations will distinguish them in a positive manner from companies for which this is not known. A legality statement can therefore form a good basis and motivating first step within a phased approach strategy, whereby terms are set to achieve certification of sustainable forest management. In this manner Keurhout hopes in the future to contribute even more to the stimulation of sustainable forest management.
